Romanian Ambassador Dan Stoenescu, Minister Awn Chaudhry Discuss Labour Mobility Cooperation

Both sides stress skilled, temporary and regulated migration framework

ISLAMABAD:Romanian Ambassador to Pakistan Dan Stoenescu met Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Muhammad Awn Chaudhry at the Embassy of Romania** in Islamabad to discuss enhancing cooperation in the field of labour mobility between Romania and Pakistan**.The meeting focused on promoting skilled and orderly temporary labour migration, based on transparency, mutual benefit and full compliance with national laws.

The ambassador said Romania welcomes qualified professionals who meet specific labour market demands and contribute legally and responsibly to the country’s economy.He underlined that visa issuance remains a regulated process carried out in line with national legislation and defined procedures. He stressed that migration arrangements must remain structured, predictable and strictly aligned with the temporary nature of labour mobility schemes.

Ambassador Stoenescu also clarified that Romania is not a destination for permanent migration, noting that bilateral cooperation is aimed at facilitating temporary, skills-based mobility. Workers, he said, are expected to return to Pakistan after completing their contracts, bringing back experience, expertise and savings that can support the country’s development.The Romanian side expressed readiness to work closely with Pakistani authorities to improve coordination, enhance information sharing, ensure proper pre-departure preparation and curb irregular migration. The ambassador also emphasized the need for firm action against malpractice by certain manpower agencies.Both sides agreed to continue dialogue to ensure that labour mobility remains safe, legal and beneficial for both countries.
