PM Shehbaz Reaffirms Strong Pakistan–Azerbaijan Brotherhood at Envoy’s Farewell

ISLAMABAD, July 31: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to further strengthening its brotherly and strategic relationship with Azerbaijan during a farewell meeting with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov.Welcoming the outgoing ambassador, Prime Minister Shehbaz praised his dedicated efforts in enhancing the long-standing friendship between the two countries. He highlighted the remarkable progress achieved during Ambassador Farhadov’s tenure, including stronger cooperation in political, economic, trade, defence, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges, as well as the launch of direct flights between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

The Prime Minister recalled the frequent high-level exchanges between the two countries over the past two and a half years, including his multiple visits to Azerbaijan and the visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Pakistan in July 2024. He expressed confidence that the strong foundation laid during Ambassador Farhadov’s tenure would continue to accelerate bilateral cooperation in the years ahead.Conveying his warm regards to President Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister Shehbaz also wished Ambassador Farhadov success in his future diplomatic assignments.Ambassador Khazar Farhadov thanked the Prime Minister, the Government, and the people of Pakistan for their hospitality and support throughout his diplomatic mission, describing his time in Pakistan as one of the most memorable chapters of his career.

Reaffirming Azerbaijan’s commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with Pakistan, Ambassador Farhadov presented Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif with a book based on his family’s experiences of living in Pakistan.Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch were also present during the meeting.
