ISLAMABAD, Aug 22, 2026: The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) hosted a pottery painting workshop for around 110 medical students of the Foundation University School of Health Sciences (FUSH), Rawalpindi, at the National Art Gallery, Islamabad, on Saturday.Organized on the special request of FUSH, the workshop introduced students to the creative art of pottery painting while highlighting traditional craftsmanship, creativity and self-expression.
The participants decorated ceramic items using different colours, designs and traditional motifs. Under the guidance of skilled instructors, they learned basic pottery-painting techniques and transformed plain ceramic pieces into unique, hand-painted creations.Designed especially for beginners, the workshop followed a practical, do-it-yourself approach and provided students with an opportunity to explore their creativity through art.Speaking on the occasion, Director Visual Arts Division PNCA Ms. Mariam Ahmed said the workshop was part of PNCA’s “Art for Therapy” series, which aims to combine artistic expression with mental health and wellbeing.“We are delighted to offer this enriching experience to medical students, promoting both creativity and wellbeing,” she said.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the students took home their hand-painted pottery pieces, reflecting their creative efforts and the therapeutic value of artistic activities.PNCA is committed to promoting art and culture across Pakistan and encouraging artistic practices through community outreach programmes. The initiative seeks to harness the therapeutic power of art to support mental wellbeing and foster creativity within communities.
