ISLAMABAD: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, held a meeting with Ms. Saliha Tuna, Country Director Pakistan of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), at BISP Headquarters, Islamabad, to explore avenues of cooperation for skills development and livelihood opportunities for BISP beneficiaries.The meeting focused particularly on strengthening the Benazir Hunarmand Programme through collaboration with TİKA, with both sides discussing ways to equip deserving women with advanced skills and sustainable economic opportunities.
Senator Rubina Khalid highlighted the importance of sharing experiences and expertise, identifying potential areas of cooperation including advanced vocational training, asset transfer, capacity building, community infrastructure development, e-commerce, digital marketing and other livelihood enhancement initiatives.Ms. Saliha Tuna appreciated BISP’s efforts to empower vulnerable communities and assured TİKA’s full cooperation in supporting skills development initiatives. She also expressed interest in launching a pilot project, including the establishment of a pilot training centre, along with providing technical assistance to enhance beneficiaries’ skills and economic prospects.
Both sides agreed to constitute dedicated working teams to identify potential areas of collaboration and prepare detailed proposals and concept papers for future partnership.Director General NSER/CCT BISP Dr. Asim Ijaz, Director General Corporate Initiatives BISP Syeda Adeela Bukhari, and Focal Person Benazir Hunarmand Programme Ms. Humaira Farooq also attended the meeting.
