SALALAH, Oman: Rwanda and the Sultanate of Oman have moved to deepen economic and investment cooperation, with discussions in Salalah focusing on opportunities in mining, renewable energy, food security, logistics, land ports and healthcare.Rwandan President Paul Kagame and Oman’s His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik held an official session of talks at Al Hosn Palace in Salalah, highlighting the growing scope for stronger investment ties between the two countries.The discussions placed particular emphasis on expanding investment partnerships that can support Rwanda’s development ambitions while creating new opportunities for Omani investors in Rwanda’s strategic sectors.
The two sides explored ways to strengthen cooperation and develop projects that can deliver mutual economic benefits and contribute to the aspirations of both peoples.For Rwanda, the talks provide an opportunity to further position the country as a destination for international investment, particularly in areas such as mining, clean and renewable energy, agriculture and food security, transport and logistics, and healthcare.The focus on land ports and logistics also offers scope for closer cooperation in strengthening regional trade connectivity, while investment in renewable energy could support Rwanda’s efforts to expand sustainable energy capacity.
President Kagame was accompanied by Olivier Nduhungirehe, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation; Yusuf Murangwa, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning; Antoine Kajangwe, Minister of Trade and Industry; Solange Uwituze, Minister of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources; Juliana Muganza, CEO of the Rwanda Development Board; and Dan Munyuza, Non-Resident Ambassador of Rwanda to Oman, among other officials.
The Omani delegation included senior government and investment officials, led by senior members of the Sultanate’s economic, energy, finance, transport and investment institutions.The talks underscore the potential for Rwanda and Oman to translate their growing diplomatic relations into concrete investment and business partnerships, particularly in sectors capable of supporting economic diversification, sustainable development and stronger trade links between the two countries.
