Pakistan’s Abubakar Talha, Russia’s Varvara Rubtsova Clinch ITF Junior Tennis Titles in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Apr 12: Pakistan’s Abubakar Talha and Russia’s Varvara Rubtsova emerged victorious in the ITF Pakistan 3rd Zainab Ali Naqvi Memorial World Juniors Tennis Championship 2026 (Leg-1), held at the PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad.

The tournament featured 24 boys and 15 girls from 14 countries, including Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Japan, China, Australia, Russia, Poland, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Thailand.In a thrilling Boys’ Singles final, Abubakar Talha defeated fellow Pakistani Mikaeel Ali Baig in a three-set battle, winning 6-4, 6-7(3), 7-5 to secure the title.

In the Girls’ Singles final, Varvara Rubtsova of Russia delivered a dominant performance, defeating China’s Yijia Wang 6-0, 6-4 to claim the title.The closing ceremony was attended by Col. Sadaf, uncle of late Zainab Ali Naqvi, as the chief guest, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up. Other attendees included Col. Zia-ud-din Tufail, Maj. Suleman Junaid, Saeed Ahmad Khan, and Tufail Cheema, along with a large number of foreign players, coaches, parents, and tennis enthusiasts.It was also announced that the Subh-e-Nau ITF Pakistan Junior International Tennis Championship (Leg-II) will commence on Monday, April 13.
