Israeli forces raised their national flag atop a tower on a hill between the coastal towns of Naqoura and Bayyada in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon on Saturday, heightening tensions in the region.Footage circulating online shows Israeli colors flying over an area under Israeli control, with a convoy of United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) vehicles also visible, while Israeli troops move through the المنطقة.
This marks the second time Israeli forces have planted their flag on Lebanese territory, having previously done so during the 2024 conflict.On April 15, US President Donald Trump announced a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. The truce was later extended for three weeks on April 23 following direct talks between Lebanese and Israeli officials hosted in Washington.Meanwhile, the Israeli army has imposed a so-called “Yellow Line” in southern Lebanon, aimed at preventing residents from returning to areas under its control. Israeli authorities have warned residents of around 80 southern towns not to return, citing ongoing operations against what they describe as “terrorist activities.”
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, Israeli military operations from March 2 to May 1 have resulted in 2,618 deaths and 8,094 injuries.Israel has also indicated plans to establish a “security zone” داخل Lebanese territory, stretching from the border to the Litani River—covering approximately 10 percent of Lebanon’s total area.
