An important and comprehensive meeting of the Provincial Executive Council of the Pakistan Allied Health Professionals Association was held at the provincial office in the provincial capital. Elected representatives from various districts, tehsils, and government hospitals across the province participated actively in the session.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on key issues faced by paramedics and allied health professionals, including service structure, promotions, organizational matters, rights of employees from tribal districts, merit, and transparency within the Health Department. The meeting is being regarded as a significant development for the paramedics’ community, as important decisions were made regarding future strategy, organizational unity, and the protection of employees’ rights.The meeting was chaired by Central and Provincial President Habib Khan, while Provincial General Secretary Wajid Ali Shah presented the formal agenda. Representatives from different districts highlighted the issues and challenges faced by paramedics in their respective areas. Participants unanimously agreed that allied health professionals play a fundamental role in the healthcare system, and resolving their issues is essential for improving healthcare services.
Representing Mardan district, President Ubaid Ullah and General Secretary Muhammad Amin specially attended the meeting. They elaborated on the problems faced by paramedics in Mardan and other regions, including complexities in the service structure, delays in promotions, and various administrative matters. Speakers emphasized that paramedics serving in the Health Department work tirelessly day and night in public service; therefore, ensuring their legitimate rights is the responsibility of the government and relevant authorities.The meeting also discussed in detail the suspensions made in connection with alleged irregularities and embezzlement in the seniority lists of Assistant Paramedics and Deputy Director Paramedics. Participants termed these actions lawful and in accordance with justice, expressing their full support for them. It was stated that any irregularities or non-transparent practices at any level must be addressed to strengthen accountability and justice within the Health Department. Speakers stressed that merit must be ensured in matters related to seniority lists and promotions so that no deserving employee is deprived of their rights.
Participants further emphasized that the process of promotions for relevant posts should continue without interruption and that all decisions should be made transparently and on the basis of merit. The meeting stated that prioritizing competence, experience, and eligibility in the Health Department is the need of the hour, as it would not only restore employees’ confidence but also significantly improve institutional performance. Speakers added that political or personal interests negatively affecting promotions and appointments weaken institutions; therefore, justice at every level is essential.During the meeting, a campaign allegedly launched by a specific group against Assistant Director Paramedics Fawad Khan and demands for his dismissal were strongly rejected. Speakers described Fawad Khan as a competent, honest, dutiful, and hardworking officer who has rendered remarkable services in resolving the issues of paramedics within the Health Department. The meeting expressed regret that certain elements were spreading negative propaganda for personal interests, despite the fact that Fawad Khan had always made decisions according to merit and the law. Participants demanded that such baseless propaganda be taken seriously and that a positive and constructive environment be promoted within the Health Department.
The issues faced by paramedics in the tribal districts also remained an important part of the meeting. Participants thoroughly discussed the challenges faced by the healthcare sector in tribal areas and the problems of paramedics serving there. The meeting demanded that posts in tribal districts be upgraded according to the 60 percent formula in line with the share of paramedics so that employees there could receive opportunities and facilities equal to those available in other districts. Speakers noted that healthcare workers serving in tribal districts perform their duties under extremely difficult conditions; therefore, protecting their rights and providing facilities should be a top priority for the government.The meeting welcomed the decision to appoint DSV, TSV, and FSV positions through interviews on a merit basis. Participants stated that this step represents a positive move towards promoting transparency, merit, and accountability within the Health Department.
Speakers expressed hope that the decision would provide opportunities for capable and deserving individuals and help enhance professional competence within institutions. The meeting stated that if merit prevails within institutions, employees’ confidence would be restored and the public would also receive better healthcare services.During the session, detailed discussions were also held regarding various issues faced by allied health professionals, including registration, service structure, promotions, benefits, and other organizational matters.
The leadership reaffirmed its commitment to continue every possible effort for the protection of the rights, restoration of professional dignity, and welfare of all allied health professionals across the province. Speakers stated that the organization would continue to raise its voice on every platform for the resolution of its members’ issues and that no form of injustice would be tolerated.At the conclusion of the meeting, approval was also granted for the election schedule for organizational elections in different units. Participants described organizational unity, mutual coordination, and collective struggle as the need of the time and expressed their determination that all paramedics and allied health professionals would remain united on one platform to continue their struggle for their rights and for the improvement of the Health Department. The meeting concluded with the hope that the government and relevant authorities would take practical measures to seriously address the issues faced by the paramedics’ community in order to further strengthen and improve the healthcare sector.
