Dushanbe hosted the 13th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, bringing together senior officials from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to chart the future of bilateral ties.The meeting was attended by Tajikistan’s Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda and Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, who reviewed progress and outlined new areas for collaboration.
Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in key sectors, including trade, investment, energy, industry, agriculture, transport, customs regulation, education, and culture. Both sides emphasized the steady progress achieved in recent years, crediting the consistent policies of their respective heads of state for strengthening ties across multiple fields.Economic cooperation has shown particularly strong momentum. By the end of 2025, bilateral trade turnover reached $718.3 million — marking a 22.5 percent increase compared to 2024.Building on this growth, the two countries have set an ambitious strategic target of increasing mutual trade to $2 billion in the coming years, signaling a deepening partnership between the neighboring nations.
