Kazakhstan and Oman Deepen Strategic Partnership with Major Investment, Energy and Transport Deals

ASTANA (IN) Kazakhstan and Oman have significantly strengthened their economic and strategic partnership with the signing of a comprehensive package of agreements covering investment, transport, energy, finance, geological exploration and business cooperation.The agreements were exchanged in Astana in the presence of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, underscoring the growing importance of bilateral ties between the two countries.

The two leaders also adopted a Joint Statement outlining key priorities for the further development of Kazakhstan-Oman relations, with a focus on expanding economic cooperation and creating new opportunities for businesses and investors.A major highlight was the Agreement on the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments, aimed at strengthening investor confidence and creating a more secure framework for bilateral investment.The two sides also agreed to establish a joint investment structure between Samruk-Kazyna and Oman Investment Authority, opening the way for greater cooperation in strategic investment projects.

An agreement was also reached on the main terms of cooperation under the Blue City Rixos Project, further expanding Kazakhstan-Oman investment ties.Cooperation is also set to grow in aviation and transport, following the signing of an agreement on air services, while the financial sector will benefit from a new memorandum between the finance ministries of both countries.In the energy and natural resources sector, KazMunayGas and OQ Exploration & Production signed an agreement on strategic cooperation in geological exploration, creating prospects for expanded collaboration in the exploration and development of energy resources.The two countries also moved to strengthen private-sector links through an agreement establishing the Kazakhstan-Oman Business Council, bringing together the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The agreements reflect Kazakhstan’s growing role as a regional hub for investment, energy, transport and economic connectivity, while opening new avenues for cooperation with Oman across multiple strategic sectors.The signing ceremony also included an agreement concerning the conditions of stay of the Eurasian Development Bank in Oman, further supporting financial and economic connectivity between the two sides.
