ISLAMABAD, September 10: Renowned Politician Mushahid Hussain Syed has called for renewed commitment to the vision and principles of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, saying constitutional supremacy, rule of law, equality, social justice, human rights and education are essential for building a strong, democratic and prosperous Pakistan.Addressing a symposium titled “Quaid-e-Azam’s Vision and Present-Day Pakistan” at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Mushahid Hussain Syed said the Quaid envisioned Pakistan as a sovereign, strong and democratic state where the Constitution and law prevail and every citizen enjoys equality, dignity, human rights and religious freedom.
He stressed that education, protection of human rights, women’s empowerment and meaningful participation, as well as the elimination of corruption, should be made national priorities. He said Pakistan’s stability, strength and progress depend on sincerely implementing the principles laid down by its founder.Speaking at the symposium, Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahmad said Quaid-e-Azam united the Muslims of the subcontinent and paved the way for the creation of an independent homeland.
He said the Quaid’s vision continues to provide guidance for Pakistan’s development, stability and prosperity, while constitutional supremacy, rule of law, strong institutions and national unity remain essential for a strong and dignified Pakistan.Prof. Dr. Abdul Aziz Sahir said the youth are the true custodians of the thoughts and ideals of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal. He urged young people to study the lives, struggles and teachings of the national leaders and play an effective role in the country’s development.Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Syed Aamir Shah said unity, faith and discipline remain the fundamental principles of Quaid-e-Azam that must be followed today more than ever.
He urged students to incorporate the Quaid’s teachings into their practical lives and contribute to Pakistan’s progress through hard work, honesty and responsibility.He also thanked Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood for organizing the symposium.The event was jointly organized by the Iqbal Chair for Muslim and Sufi Thoughts, Department of History, and Directorate of Student Advisory and Counseling Services.Registrar Raja Umar Younis, Dr. Fauzia Umar, university faculty members, principal officers and students attended the symposium.
