LAHORE: Pakistan sealed the three-match ODI series 2-1 with a convincing four-wicket victory over Australia in the third and final ODI at Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday, thanks to a disciplined bowling display and a composed chase led by Babar Azam.After winning the toss, Australia elected to bat but were bundled out for just 157 in 42 overs. Captain Josh Inglis fought a lone battle with a brilliant 65, while Marnus Labuschagne and Alex Carey contributed 19 runs each. Pakistan’s bowlers kept the visitors under constant pressure, with Shaheen Shah Afridi leading the attack by claiming three wickets for 30 runs.
Abrar Ahmed and Shadab Khan picked up two wickets apiece.In reply, Pakistan faced early setbacks but recovered through a steady 40-run knock from Babar Azam and a quick-fire 27 by Maaz Sadaqat. With the hosts under pressure at 112-6, Abdul Samad and Shadab Khan produced a match-winning unbeaten partnership of 49 runs for the seventh wicket to guide Pakistan to 161-6 in 41.5 overs.
Shaheen Shah Afridi was named Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance, while Arafat Minhas earned the Player of the Series award.The victory marks Pakistan’s third consecutive ODI series win over Australia and highlights the team’s growing dominance in the 50-over format.
