RIYADH, Oct 6 (IN): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Monday attended an emergency meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee (SPDC), established under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.The meeting endorsed the nomination of Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood (Retd), Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military), as the first Secretary-General of the Makkah Alliance for Defence.
The participants strongly condemned attempts to target the holy cities of Makkah and Madina, as well as the continued attacks against the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.The three countries exchanged views on the latest regional developments and reaffirmed their resolve to work closely for regional peace and stability.
Pakistan reiterated its unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed its full support for the Kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security.Pakistan also reaffirmed its commitment to making every possible effort to promote lasting peace and stability in the region.
