Pakistan, Uzbekistan Vow to Deepen Parliamentary and Regional Cooperation

Misbah Khar met with Kutbiddin Burkhavanova in Uzbekistan to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral parliamentary cooperation, regional connectivity, trade, and cultural relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

Ms. Misbah Khar is currently visiting Uzbekistan at the invitation of the Senate of Uzbekistan to participate in the Second Asian Women’s Forum.During the meeting, she conveyed warm greetings on behalf of Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing ties with Uzbekistan. She noted that both countries share deep historical, cultural, and spiritual links rooted in centuries-old Silk Route connections and strengthened through growing parliamentary engagement.Highlighting the role of Parliamentary Friendship Groups in promoting mutual understanding, Ms. Khar recalled the virtual meeting of the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship Group held in November 2025, which helped advance bilateral cooperation.

She also underscored the importance of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), launched under the leadership of Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, as a platform for promoting parliamentary diplomacy, peace, and inclusive development. Ms. Khar appreciated Uzbekistan’s active participation in the inaugural ISC Conference held in Islamabad in November 2025.Both sides discussed expanding cooperation in trade, education, culture, information technology, agriculture, and regional connectivity, while emphasizing collaboration within regional organizations including the Economic Cooperation Organization, Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthen parliamentary engagement and people-to-people contacts to promote regional peace, stability, and shared prosperity.
