Philippine Embassy Brings Filipino Culture to Life at ASEAN Village 2026 in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Philippine Embassy in Islamabad showcased the vibrant spirit of Filipino culture and hospitality during the ASEAN Village 2026 and the Closing Ceremony of the Online Internship Program (OIP), organized by the Embassy of Indonesia and the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI) in collaboration with the University of the Punjab.Led by H.E. Ambassador Emmanuel R. Fernandez and Mme. Alicia Kalaw-Fernandez, the 30-member Philippine delegation captivated visitors with a colorful Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan-inspired cultural booth.

The exhibit featured elegant floral decorations, a traditional sagala display, and an engaging video presentation highlighting one of the Philippines’ most cherished May celebrations.The Philippine team also treated guests to warm servings of arroz caldo—a traditional Filipino rice porridge symbolizing warmth, care, and hospitality.

Visitors enthusiastically participated in trivia contests and interactive cultural games conducted as part of the ASEAN Amazing Race activities.The event served as a vibrant platform to promote ASEAN unity, cultural diplomacy, tourism, and people-to-people connections between ASEAN member states and Pakistan through the shared appreciation of culture, cuisine, education, and friendship.
