RAWALPINDI: The 66th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) was held at the Chamber premises on Wednesday, where the annual report and audited accounts presented by the outgoing Executive Committee were approved. The annual report highlighted the Chamber’s major activities, initiatives, events and achievements during the outgoing term.The House formally announced and approved the election of the newly elected Office Bearers, with Nosherwan Khalil Khan as President, Muhammad Waseem Aslam as Senior Vice President, and Ikram ur Rehman Abbasi as Vice President.
The newly elected officials will officially assume charge on October 1, 2026.The meeting was presided over by RCCI President Usman Shaukat and attended by Senior Vice President Khalid Farooq Qazi, Vice President Fahad Barlas, Group Leader Sohail Altaf, outgoing Executive Committee members, newly elected Executive Committee members, former presidents and a large number of Chamber members.While presenting highlights of his two-year tenure, President Usman Shaukat said RCCI remained actively engaged with policymakers, government institutions and stakeholders at the federal, provincial and local levels. He highlighted interactions with Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Muhammad Aurangzeb and Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani and SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan.
He said these engagements provided opportunities to raise key business concerns, particularly taxation and budgetary anomalies, while advocating policy continuity, an Economic Charter and development of economic zones along the Ring Road.At the local level, RCCI strengthened coordination with the Commissioner, RPO, CPO, Chief Traffic Officer, DG RDA, Chairman PIEDMC and other relevant authorities, focusing on security, encroachments, traffic management and economic and industrial development.
He also highlighted RCCI’s Revive Pakistan seminars in Peshawar and Karachi, the First Green Road Initiative at RCCI, international trade and diplomatic engagements, and the successful hosting of Belgian Business Contact Day.During the tenure, RCCI signed more than 30 MoUs with leading universities and established partnerships with hospitals, laboratories, retailers and service providers to facilitate members.Major initiatives included Pindi Food Fest, Med Health Expo & Summit, All Pakistan Chamber Presidents Conference, Women SME Exhibition, Pak-Bangladesh Business and Tourism Opportunity Conference, the 3rd Pakistan Exhibition in Dhaka, and the revival of Coffee Morning sessions and awareness programs.
