The Russian Embassy School in Pakistan organized a special open lesson to commemorate the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture, highlighting the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of the Slavic world.
The event featured an informative lecture on the history of the occasion and the significant contributions of Saints Cyril and Methodius, who created the first written and literary language for the Slavic peoples — a milestone that laid the foundation for modern Russian language and literature.Students were also introduced to a unique poster series titled “Let’s Speak Like St. Petersburgers,” prepared under the guidance of renowned Russian philologist Lyudmila Verbitskaya, as 2026 marks the 90th birth anniversary of the distinguished scholar.
Widely respected for her contributions to linguistics and education, Verbitskaya authored more than 300 scientific and educational works and played a key role in promoting the Russian language and strengthening its international standing.
