Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, H.E. Harerimana Fatou, accompanied by a delegation, visited the Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), where she was warmly received by President Ali Humayun Butt, Senior Vice President Saad Jameel Irfani, Vice President Faisal Sattar Mughal, and executive members of the chamber.During the meeting, both sides discussed strengthening private-sector partnerships and enhancing bilateral trade between Pakistan and Rwanda. Addressing the business community, the High Commissioner described Gujranwala as the “industrial backbone of Punjab,” particularly in the fields of agricultural machinery and SMEs, adding that the visit aimed to deepen economic and commercial ties between the private sectors of both countries.
H.E. Harerimana Fatou briefed the chamber members on Rwanda’s investor-friendly environment, highlighting the country’s strict anti-corruption policies and comparatively lower electricity costs, which help reduce production expenses. She also announced that the “Pakistan-Rwanda Business Forum” is scheduled to be held in September to further expand trade cooperation.
Emphasizing the importance of direct business engagement, the High Commissioner stressed that eliminating middlemen and promoting direct import-export channels would significantly increase trade volume between the two countries.Speaking on the occasion, GCCI President Ali Humayun Butt thanked the High Commissioner for her visit and reaffirmed the chamber’s commitment to facilitating direct access to African markets and strengthening sustainable trade relations with Rwanda and other African nations.
