Around 3,000 Muslim worshippers gathered at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City on Wednesday morning, May 27, to solemnly observe Eid’l Adha through congregational prayers and thanksgiving rites held at Liwasang Aurora.Devotees started arriving as early as 4:30 a.m., while the Eid prayer and khutbah (sermon) were conducted from 6:25 a.m. to 7:03 a.m. The celebration remained peaceful and orderly under coordinated security and crowd management operations led by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).
The Quezon City government supported the observance by deploying personnel for traffic management, security, and public assistance in coordination with the QCPD and Task Force Disiplina. Free city bus services were also provided to help Muslim residents travel conveniently to and from designated prayer venues.“A blessed Eid’l Adha to our Muslim brothers and sisters. May this Feast of Sacrifice and faith in Allah bring peace, prosperity, and success to you and your loved ones. Eid Mubarak!” city officials said in a message of solidarity and goodwill.Eid’l Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is among the most significant celebrations in Islam. It commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering devotion and willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail in obedience to God before divine intervention replaced the sacrifice with a ram.
In line with the celebration, the Quezon City government also launched the QC Services Caravan at the White Mosque Grounds in Barangay Payatas from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. The caravan offered various public services, including QCID processing, scholarship assistance, medical and dental consultations, civil registry services, and programs from several city offices.Residents also benefited from free haircut services, social assistance programs, vitamins distribution, massage services, grooming assistance, and blood pressure monitoring during the event.
Meanwhile, Malacañang declared May 27, 2026, a regular holiday nationwide in observance of Eid’l Adha under Republic Act No. 9849, which recognizes the 10th day of Zhul Hijja in the Islamic calendar as a national holiday tied to the annual Hajj pilgrimage season.Eid’l Adha marks the culmination of the pilgrimage to Mecca and highlights the values of sacrifice, obedience, compassion, and faith in God.
