Uzbekistan Ambassador Meets Pakistan’s Railways Minister to Advance Trans-Afghan Railway Project

Islamabad: The Ambassador of Uzbekistan held a productive and substantive meeting with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional connectivity initiatives.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed in detail the implementation of agreements reached following the recent state visit of Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Pakistan. The discussions focused on strengthening strategic partnership and ensuring timely progress on mutually agreed projects.Particular emphasis was placed on the Trans-Afghan Railway project, a landmark initiative expected to transform the region’s transport landscape.

The project aims to open new trade corridors, enhance regional connectivity, and significantly boost economic opportunities for millions of people across Central and South Asia.The two sides also agreed to organize an official visit of Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Railways to Uzbekistan to further advance practical cooperation and accelerate joint projects.

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to translating their strategic partnership into tangible outcomes, while enhancing cooperation for sustainable development and shared prosperity.
