Zamurd Khan Pays Tribute to Benazir Bhutto on Her Birth Anniversary at Liaquat Bagh

Islamabad, June 21, 2026:Patron-in-Chief of Pakistan Sweet Home and former Member of the National Assembly, Zamurd Khan (Hilal-e-Imtiaz), visited the martyrdom site of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto at Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi, on the occasion of her birth anniversary.While recalling the moments leading up to her tragic assassination, Zamurd Khan stated that the memories prior to the Liaquat Bagh incident remain deeply etched in his mind. He revealed that after the Karsaz bomb blasts, there were serious security concerns which he had conveyed to Benazir Bhutto. However, she chose to prioritize the nation and its people over her own safety.“Unfortunately, one of the greatest tragedies in our history unfolded,” he said, referring to the devastating incident at Liaquat Bagh.

Zamurd Khan highlighted that Benazir Bhutto had immense compassion for the underprivileged and consistently introduced special measures for the welfare of poor and vulnerable communities during her tenures in power. He added that she remained committed to democracy, peace, development, and national stability, adopting tolerance and resilience as guiding principles throughout her political career.He further remarked that Benazir Bhutto not only holds the distinction of being the first woman Prime Minister of the Islamic world but also played a historic role in restoring democracy twice by breaking the grip of authoritarian regimes.Concluding his tribute, Zamurd Khan said that on her birth anniversary, the nation salutes her remarkable contributions and enduring legacy.
