DUSHANBE, July 17, 2026 (IN) — Tajikistan’s athletes have delivered an impressive performance on the international stage in 2026, securing 278 medals across 87 global competitions, according to the Committee for Youth and Sports.A total of 480 athletes, including 137 women, represented the country in Olympic and non-Olympic disciplines during the first half of the year. Their achievements included 76 gold, 88 silver, and 114 bronze medals, an overall increase of 40 medals compared with the same period in 2025.The improved tally features seven more gold medals, 14 additional silver medals, and 17 more bronze medals than last year, highlighting Tajikistan’s growing strength in international sports.
Domestically, the committee reported that 87 professional sporting events were held under the national sports calendar, attracting 12,528 athletes, including 2,873 women.The country’s sporting success was further reflected as the Tajik national flag was raised 278 times at international competitions, while the national anthem was played 76 times in celebration of gold-medal victories.Overall, 5,420 professional sports events were organised across Tajikistan during the reporting period, bringing together 175,293 participants—an increase of 108 events and 6,650 athletes compared with the same period last year.
