TASHKENT: Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan have taken a significant step toward strengthening bilateral healthcare cooperation by signing a series of strategic agreements focused on digital health, virtual care, health financing, workforce development, and medical education.The agreements were signed during the official visit of Saudi Minister of Health Fahad AlJalajel to Tashkent, where he participated in a high-level healthcare roundtable alongside Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, Health Minister Eldor Edilov, and senior government officials.
The forum brought together more than 75 senior representatives from the health and investment sectors of both countries, including leading private-sector executives, to explore new opportunities for collaboration and investment in healthcare.Among the key agreements was an executive program between Saudi Arabia’s Seha Virtual Hospital and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Health to expand cooperation in virtual healthcare services. Another agreement linked Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Health Insurance with Uzbekistan’s State Health Insurance Fund to promote collaboration in healthcare financing, professional training, and joint research.Saudi-based Lean Business Services also signed a memorandum of understanding with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Health to support digital transformation, capacity building, and advisory services in the healthcare sector.In addition, the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties signed multiple agreements with Uzbek healthcare and academic institutions to strengthen medical education, professional training, nursing development, primary healthcare, and workforce capacity.
A major highlight of the visit was the inauguration of a cross-border digital health connection between Saudi Arabia’s Seha Virtual Hospital and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Health. The new platform will enable specialists from both countries to provide 24/7 remote consultations, diagnosis, and treatment, improving access to expert medical care and encouraging knowledge sharing between healthcare professionals.The latest initiatives reflect the growing strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan and underscore both countries’ commitment to advancing healthcare innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable international cooperation.
