Turkmenistan Highlights Regional Commitment to One Health Cooperation at Bishkek Conference

BISHKEK, September 14, 2026: Turkmenistan is participating prominently in the “One Health – 2026” regional conference in Bishkek, joining more than 150 representatives from government institutions, international organizations and the expert community from across Central Asia.The conference brings together Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to strengthen regional cooperation on zoonotic disease prevention, pandemic preparedness, epidemiological and veterinary surveillance, and coordinated responses to emerging health threats.

Turkmenistan’s participation underscores its commitment to regional health security and stronger cooperation among the health, agriculture and environmental sectors. The discussions provide an important platform for exchanging national experiences and identifying practical areas for closer cooperation among Central Asian countries.The high-level conference is being organized by the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) and the World Bank, with support from the Pandemic Fund and the Quadripartite One Health Alliance comprising FAO, WHO, WOAH and UNEP.During the event, participants are reviewing progress on national “One Health” programmes and discussing priorities for future regional collaboration.

The initiative is increasingly moving from developing common approaches toward practical implementation and coordinated action across Central Asia.The conference also highlights the importance of stronger national systems, laboratory networks, epidemiological surveillance and professional capacity to detect and respond effectively to cross-border infectious disease threats.For Turkmenistan, the regional platform offers an opportunity to further strengthen technical cooperation, information exchange and coordinated preparedness, contributing to a safer and more resilient Central Asian region.
