ISLAMABAD: The Department of Library and Information Sciences, Alhamd Islamic University, Islamabad Campus, organized an academic seminar focusing on contemporary trends in research, scholarly communication and emerging developments in information sciences.The first session, titled “Artificial Intelligence in Academic Writing and Research,” was delivered by Dr. Gulnaz Akhtar, Chief Librarian, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi. She highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in academic research and writing, including literature searching, referencing, research productivity and AI-assisted academic work.
Dr. Gulnaz Akhtar also emphasized the importance of academic integrity, ethical considerations, originality and responsible use of AI tools in scholarly activities.The second session, titled “Writing Bibliometric Articles: Tips and Tricks,” was conducted by Mr. Ikram Ul Haq, former Librarian at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Saudi Arabia, and President of the Society for Promotion of Reading and Improvement of Libraries (SPRIL).He provided participants with practical guidance on bibliometric research, covering topic selection, data collection, analysis, visualization, research indicators, and the writing and publication of bibliometric articles.Both sessions attracted considerable interest from students and researchers and provided valuable practical insights into emerging trends in Library and Information Sciences and contemporary academic research.
Speaking on the occasion, the organizers appreciated the guest speakers for sharing their expertise and professional experiences with the participants. They also acknowledged the leadership and support of Dr. Ata Ur Rehman, Head of the Department of Library and Information Sciences, for facilitating the academic activities.The seminar concluded with appreciation for the department’s efforts to provide students and researchers with opportunities for professional learning and greater exposure to emerging trends in research and information sciences.
