Azerbaijan, Muslim Council of Elders Discuss Islamic Solidarity and Global Cooperation

BAKU, Sept 14: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, and discussed bilateral cooperation and efforts to promote Islamic solidarity at the global level.During the meeting, the two sides recalled their previous meetings and welcomed the successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Muslim Council of Elders.

The discussions highlighted Azerbaijan’s role in strengthening Islamic solidarity, with particular emphasis on the 7th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards of the Organization of Turkic States, held in Baku.They also discussed the upcoming Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, scheduled to be hosted by Azerbaijan next year, as well as the country’s experience in managing religious affairs.

The meeting also touched upon the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, conferred upon President Ilham Aliyev earlier this year. Mohamed Abdelsalam presented the award certificate to the Azerbaijani president.
