President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held an informal yet significant meeting with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the historic city of Bukhara, underscoring the deep-rooted friendship and expanding strategic cooperation between the two neighboring nations.President Tokayev expressed sincere gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by his Uzbek counterpart and praised the excellent organization of the visit. He emphasized that amid an increasingly complex global geopolitical environment, the meeting holds special importance, reaffirming Uzbekistan’s role as a reliable and trusted strategic partner for Kazakhstan.
He noted that bilateral agreements are being implemented consistently, with both governments committed to fulfilling mutual obligations.Highlighting the historical and cultural significance of Bukhara, President Tokayev described the ancient city as a vital center of spiritual and intellectual heritage with strong historical ties to the Kazakh people. He commended Uzbekistan’s efforts in preserving and modernizing the city, calling it a successful blend of rich tradition and dynamic development.
President Mirziyoyev welcomed the visit as a reflection of centuries-old brotherhood and emphasized that relations between the two countries continue to reach new heights. He praised Kazakhstan’s ongoing reforms under President Tokayev, noting steady economic growth, increased diversification, and advancements in digitalization and governance. He also commended Kazakhstan’s balanced foreign policy and growing international standing.Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening economic cooperation, with a focus on boosting trade, supporting business communities, and achieving concrete production targets. Key areas of collaboration discussed included rare earth metals, transport and transit, water and energy resources, and the rapidly growing IT sector.Environmental cooperation also featured prominently, with President Tokayev supporting Uzbekistan’s “Clean Air” initiative and proposing joint implementation to address pollution challenges in major cities across both countries.
The two sides agreed to further enhance cultural, humanitarian, and tourism ties, recognizing their importance in deepening people-to-people connections. A joint roadmap for expanding trade and economic cooperation is expected to be adopted following the talks.During the visit, both presidents toured the newly established Situation Center in Bukhara, which provides real-time monitoring of infrastructure, public services, and emergency response systems. They also attended a nationwide artificial intelligence hackathon, highlighting their shared focus on innovation and youth development.
In a gesture of historical and cultural goodwill, President Mirziyoyev presented archival materials to President Tokayev, including rare documents related to significant cultural sites in Kazakhstan, further strengthening the cultural bonds between the two nations.
