ISLAMABAD, August 11, 2026: OIC-COMSTECH, in collaboration with Austrian academic partners, organized a two-day international training course on “Engineering of AI-Driven Systems”, highlighting growing Pakistan-Austria cooperation in artificial intelligence, science and technology.Held on August 10–11 under the COMSTECH Expert Service and ASEA-UNINET Programmes, the training brought together around 60 participants physically and more than 200 participants virtually from OIC Member and Observer States.
Ambassador of Austria to Pakistan H.E. Wolfgang Oliver Kutschera, who attended the inaugural session as Guest of Honour, emphasized the transformative role of artificial intelligence in software engineering and stressed the importance of equipping researchers and engineers across OIC countries with the knowledge to use, govern and develop AI responsibly.He highlighted the valuable partnership between OIC-COMSTECH and Johannes Kepler University Linz, describing the training as an important platform for advancing Austria-Pakistan academic and technological cooperation.
Coordinator General OIC-COMSTECH Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary also highlighted the role of the ASEA-UNINET Programme in strengthening academic, scientific and technological collaboration between Pakistani and Austrian institutions.
The course was led by Dr. Atif Mashkoor, Associate Professor at Johannes Kepler University Linz, who shared expertise in AI-driven software engineering, requirements engineering and safety-critical systems.The initiative underscores the growing Austria-Pakistan partnership in emerging technologies and OIC-COMSTECH’s commitment to building AI capacity and strengthening international scientific cooperation across the Muslim world.
