Islamabad, 20 August 2026 — Governor of Sindh H.E. Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi visited the Rwanda High Commission in Islamabad, where he was warmly received by H.E. Fatou Harerimana, High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Pakistan.
The visit followed the High Commissioner’s earlier visit to the Governor House in Karachi in April 2026, reflecting the growing engagement between Rwanda and Pakistan and the increasing role of provincial cooperation in strengthening bilateral ties.During the meeting, Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi and High Commissioner Fatou Harerimana discussed ways to further enhance Rwanda–Pakistan relations, with a special focus on trade, investment, business cooperation and diplomatic collaboration.
Both sides explored opportunities for expanding commercial relations between Sindh and Rwanda, emphasizing the importance of stronger private-sector partnerships, business-to-business connections and investment opportunities. They highlighted the potential for companies from both countries to access new markets and develop mutually beneficial economic ventures.The discussions also underscored Karachi’s strategic importance as Pakistan’s leading commercial and maritime hub.
With its advanced port infrastructure, Karachi plays a vital role in facilitating trade between Rwanda and Pakistan, including the export of Pakistani rice, pharmaceutical products, medical and surgical equipment to Rwanda, while also serving as an important gateway for Rwandan tea entering the Pakistani market.Governor Nehal Hashmi reaffirmed his commitment to promoting trade and economic cooperation, while both sides agreed that enhanced collaboration in logistics, shipping connectivity, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and other key sectors could further strengthen bilateral economic relations.
The meeting comes at an important time as preparations continue for the Rwanda–Pakistan Business Forum, scheduled to be held in Kigali in September 2026. The forum is expected to provide a valuable platform for businesses, investors and institutional stakeholders from both countries to explore new opportunities, build partnerships and expand bilateral trade.The visit of Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi marks a significant step toward strengthening Rwanda–Sindh economic cooperation and contributes to the broader vision of deepening friendship and partnership between Rwanda and Pakistan.
