Kazakhstan, Lotte Group Set to Expand Investments in Food, Logistics and Hospitality

ASTANA: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin, with discussions focusing on expanding the South Korean conglomerate’s investments in Kazakhstan’s food, logistics and hospitality sectors.Tokayev described Lotte as a long-standing partner of Kazakhstan and praised its contribution to strengthening economic ties between Kazakhstan and South Korea.

The president highlighted Lotte’s development of the Rakhat brand and modernization of production facilities in Almaty and Shymkent. He also welcomed Lotte Global Logistics’ plans to expand transport and logistics infrastructure to improve access to regional and international markets.

The two sides discussed the hospitality sector, including an agreement to construct the first Lotte-branded hotel in Almaty. Shin Dong-bin confirmed Lotte’s intention to invest further in food production, logistics and hospitality.

He also expressed Lotte’s interest in participating in the development of Alatau City, including the proposed Iconic Complex.Following the meeting, Hotel Lotte Co. Ltd and Sensata Invest exchanged memorandums of understanding concerning the construction of Lotte hotels in Almaty and Alatau City.
