ISLAMABAD, Sep 26 (IN): A high-level parliamentary delegation of the People’s Majlis of the Maldives, led by Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla, visited the Sindh Assembly in Karachi on Saturday as part of its official visit to Pakistan.Sindh Assembly Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah warmly received the Maldivian delegation, which had earlier visited the Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi and laid a wreath at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and offered Fateha.During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the history, evolution and parliamentary significance of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh.
A documentary highlighting the history of Sindh and the provincial legislature was also screened.Speaking on the occasion, Syed Awais Qadir Shah said the visit provided an opportunity to develop a new roadmap for parliamentary relations between Sindh and the Maldives.He stressed the importance of expanding parliamentary interaction and cooperation in areas including trade, tourism, education, health, youth development and climate change.
A luncheon was hosted in honour of the delegation at the Assembly Lobby. At the conclusion of the visit, the Sindh Assembly Speaker presented commemorative shields, Sindhi caps, Ajraks and books on the history of Sindh and the provincial assembly to Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla and members of the delegation.
