DOHA, Aug 21: Pakistan’s young volleyball team fought hard against Iran in their second Pool E match of the FIVB Boys’ U17 World Championship in Doha, Qatar, but suffered a 0–3 defeat on Friday.After beginning their campaign with an impressive 3–0 victory over Chinese Taipei, the Green Shirts produced a determined performance against a strong Iranian side, narrowly losing the opening two sets before Iran secured the third.Match Result: Pakistan 0–3 IranSet Scores: 23–25, 22–25, 18–25Pakistan remained within touching distance of Iran throughout the opening set, but the Iranian side held its nerve in the closing stages to win 25–23.
The second set followed a similar pattern, with Pakistan displaying strong attacking play and disciplined defence. Iran once again proved more composed at the crucial moments, taking the set 25–22.Pakistan continued to battle in the third set, but Iran gradually established control and closed out the match 25–18 to complete a 3–0 victory.Despite the defeat, Pakistan’s young players showed courage, fighting spirit and the ability to compete against a strong regional opponent.Pakistan now have one win and one defeat from their first two Pool E matches.
The Green Shirts will face Algeria in their final pool-stage match, where they will look to bounce back and finish the group stage strongly.The Pakistan Volleyball Federation appreciated the efforts of the players and coaching staff and urged the team to remain positive, learn from the experience and focus on the upcoming encounter against Algeria.
