Rwanda Envoy Strengthens Ties in Faisalabad: A New Chapter of Economic, Educational & Women Empowerment Cooperation

In a significant step toward enhancing bilateral cooperation, H.E. Fatou Harerimana, High Commissioner of Rwanda, undertook a series of high-level visits in Faisalabad, focusing on trade, education, and women empowerment—marking a promising new phase in Rwanda–Pakistan relations.

During her visit to Masood Textile Mills (MTM) at Faisalabad Garments City, the High Commissioner was given a comprehensive overview of the company’s fully integrated textile value chain. The visit highlighted MTM’s strong export footprint in US and European markets. H.E. Harerimana expressed keen interest in exploring strategic linkages between Pakistan’s established textile sector and Rwanda’s growing industry under the “Made-in-Rwanda” policy. She emphasized that such collaboration could unlock new trade opportunities and foster industrial growth for both nations.Continuing her engagements, the High Commissioner visited the Faisalabad Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FWCCI), where she was warmly received by President Mrs. Rubina Amjad.

The discussions centered on progressive policies, increasing women’s representation in business, and Rwanda’s inspiring success story in women empowerment. Both sides exchanged insights on supporting women-led enterprises and agreed that stronger collaboration could create impactful opportunities for female entrepreneurs across borders.Earlier, on April 22, H.E. Harerimana visited the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, where she was welcomed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali and senior faculty members.

The visit included a detailed tour of research and innovation facilities, showcasing the university’s contributions to agricultural advancement. Productive discussions followed, focusing on capacity building, academic exchange programs, technology transfer, and strengthening institutional partnerships between Rwanda and Pakistan.Throughout her visit, the High Commissioner reiterated Rwanda’s commitment to building meaningful partnerships with Pakistan. She highlighted that cooperation in education, industry, and women empowerment would not only benefit both countries but also contribute to sustainable development and shared prosperity.The visit concluded on a highly positive note, with both sides expressing strong determination to transform these engagements into long-term, mutually beneficial collaborations.
