ISLAMABAD, May 10 (IN):President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited, Tahir Yaqoob Bhatti, called on the Auditor General of Pakistan, Maqbool Ahmad Gondal, and briefed him on the bank’s reforms and transformation strategy, which helped strengthen institutional performance and expand financial services for small farmers.During the meeting, the ZTBL president highlighted the “Reforms and Transformation Strategy” launched in 2023, which, he said, helped the bank overcome financial and administrative challenges and emerge as a financially stable and progressive institution, a news release said.Tahir Yaqoob said ZTBL had achieved record financial performance in recent years while generating more than 900 employment opportunities for fresh graduates and postgraduates across the country.He said the bank was enhancing outreach to small farmers through digital banking products and services, enabling easier access to agricultural financing and banking facilities.
The ZTBL president further informed that the bank was following a unique business model under which branch managers and mobile credit officers visit villages and remote areas to provide agri-financing and other banking services at the doorsteps of farmers.Auditor General Maqbool Ahmad Gondal appreciated ZTBL’s performance and acknowledged its role in improving the livelihoods of small farmers and strengthening the rural economy.
Assuring full support and cooperation from his office, he stressed that accountability, transparency and good governance should remain key priorities for sustaining the bank’s financial growth and institutional stability.Later, the bank’s president presented a ZTBL memento to the Auditor General of Pakistan, who also assured that he would visit the ZTBL Head Office in Islamabad.
