Karachi: Syed Aman Shah, Provincial President of Awaam Pakistan Party Balochistan, has strongly rejected the Federal Government’s proposed decision to revise petroleum product prices on a daily basis, calling it yet another heavy burden on people already struggling with inflation, unemployment and economic hardship. He stated that daily fluctuations in petroleum prices would not only create severe uncertainty and psychological stress among the public but would also negatively impact transportation, food prices, agriculture, industry and commercial activities. The resulting uncertainty in fuel prices would discourage investment, disrupt trade and make everyday life even more difficult for ordinary citizens.
Syed Aman Shah emphasized that it is the government’s responsibility to provide relief to the people rather than introducing policies that fuel inflation on a daily basis. He noted that continuous changes in petroleum prices have a direct impact on the cost of living, while low- and middle-income households are already finding it increasingly difficult to meet their basic expenses. He further stated that in a backward and underdeveloped province like Balochistan, where transportation costs are already significantly higher, daily changes in fuel prices would inflict serious financial losses on the public, transporters, farmers, labourers, and traders. Such a policy, he warned, would adversely affect economic activity and further accelerate inflation.
The Provincial President of Awaam Pakistan Party Balochistan urged the Federal Government to immediately withdraw its decision to implement daily revisions in petroleum prices. He called for meaningful consultations with all political parties, economic experts, transporters, industrialists, and public representatives to formulate a transparent, balanced, and long-term petroleum pricing policy that protects the public from uncertainty and rising inflation. He concluded by stating that Awaam Pakistan Party will continue to oppose every policy that undermines public welfare while fully supporting all measures that provide genuine relief to ordinary citizens and contribute to sustainable economic stability.
