Awareness Walk Held in Mardan on the Occasion of World Malaria Day

Mardan: On the occasion of World Malaria Day, a dignified awareness walk was organized at the DHO Office Mardan to raise public awareness about the prevention of the deadly disease malaria. Health department officials, Dr. Sabaoon Khan (District Malaria Master Trainer and Surveillance Officer), Dr. Farhan Akram (LHW Coordinator), Mansoor Khan (District Malaria Supervisor), Muhammad Afzal (Medical Entomologist), Hazrat Hussain (Male Officer IHHN), along with health workers and people from walks of life, actively participated in the walk.

Addressing the participants, Muhammad Arif Jan, District Coordinator Malaria Program (FPHC), stated that World Malaria Day is observed globally on April 25 each year to create awareness against this dangerous disease. He said malaria is a communicable disease that affects millions of people worldwide every year, claiming hundreds of thousands of lives. Pakistan is also among the countries where malaria remains a serious public health issue.He further emphasized that malaria prevention is possible through precautionary measures, timely diagnosis, and public awareness. If awareness is raised at the community level, the spread of the disease can be significantly reduced.Muhammad Arif Jan added that, under the directions of the DHO Mardan, World Malaria Day is being observed across the district with great enthusiasm.

In this regard, awareness sessions, seminars, and training programs are being organized in health centers, schools, and colleges with the support of Lady Health Workers and other medical staff to disseminate preventive information to the maximum number of people.He also informed that 113 centers have been established in District Mardan for timely diagnosis and effective treatment of malaria, where free testing and treatment facilities are being provided. He appealed to the public to adopt preventive measures and immediately visit the nearest health facility if symptoms of malaria appear, so that the disease can be controlled effectively.
