LARKANA, Apr 25 (IN):Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar (SI) on Saturday visited the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) Larkana where Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nusrat Shah, along with faculty members, officers, and staff, warmly received him.During the visit, he toured Chandka Medical College Larkana and the Institute of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation instruction, where he reviewed academic and infrastructure facilities and inaugurated a newly established smart classroom. He also inaugurated the SMBBMU Sports Week 2026 and participated in the opening badminton match alongside the Vice Chancellor.
On this occasion, he appreciated the promotion of co-curricular activities within the University.At the event, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nusrat Shah briefed him on ongoing development projects and improvements in the university’s infrastructure.The Chairman HEC praised the leadership and vision of the Vice Chancellor and urged the faculty to focus on research and innovation. He stated that the Higher Education Commission Pakistan is increasing research funding to promote collaborative and impactful projects. He also reviewed the HEC-funded project titled “Center for Advanced Research in Molecular, Genetic and Allied Facilities at SMBBMU Larkana” and expressed satisfaction over its progress.At the conclusion of the visit, he appreciated the overall developmental initiatives of the University.
