Faisalabad: The Chief Representative of JICA Pakistan, Yusuke Shinozaki, paid an official visit to Faisalabad from April 13 to 15, 2026, reaffirming JICA’s strategic commitment to promoting sustainable urban water management in Pakistan.During the visit, he led a series of high-level meetings and field inspections in close coordination with WASA Faisalabad (WASA-F), focusing on infrastructure performance and service delivery outcomes.

Mr. Shinozaki visited the OJK Water Treatment Plant, where he reviewed water treatment processes, SCADA systems, and water quality monitoring mechanisms. He also conducted field visits to overhead reservoirs and ongoing leak repair sites, gaining firsthand insights into service delivery and engaging with local communities.During interactions, a female resident expressed appreciation for JICA’s support, noting that improvements in water quality and supply had significantly eased daily household tasks, including laundry.In a meeting with the Managing Director of WASA-F, discussions focused on water tariff reforms, policy alignment, and the advancement of metering systems under JICA-supported initiatives.
Mr. Shinozaki emphasized the importance of timely implementation, strong institutional coordination, and sustainable service delivery.He also visited SCADA-enabled facilities alongside Japanese consultants to review the integration of smart water management technologies.The visit highlights JICA’s long-standing partnership with Pakistan, combining technical expertise, policy support, and infrastructure investment to strengthen urban water systems and improve quality of life.
