Journalists in Hazro Announce Establishment of Chhachh Media Club on World Press Freedom Day

HAZRO (IN) On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, a significant meeting of journalists from Tehsil Hazro was held, culminating in the unanimous announcement of the establishment of the Chhachh Media Club.

The meeting was convened under the patronage of senior figure Haji Tariq Ali Khan and was attended by prominent journalists including Khalid Mehmood, Malik Yasir, Iqbal Shah, Shakeel Khan, Ahsan Qureshi, Ismail Khan, Umar Farooq Khan, Naveed Qadri, Rashid Munir, Munsif Khan, Muhammad Rabnawaz and others.Notably, senior journalist Nisar Ali Khan joined the session online from Malaysia via video link. During his address, he spoke candidly about the professional challenges he faced in Pakistan, including alleged pressure tactics, threats, and misuse of authority by police, administration, and political figures.

He revealed that, in retaliation for his reporting, attempts were made to implicate him in serious criminal cases, including murder, in police stations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh—developments he only became aware of while residing in Malaysia. He stated that efforts are currently underway to trace the specific police stations where fabricated cases may have been registered against him.Emphasizing the need for integrity in journalism, he urged fellow journalists to build strong professional reputations through honest service to society, so that no official would dare to file false cases against credible journalists, nor would the public question their integrity.

During the meeting, participants unanimously approved the formation of the Chhachh Media Club. By consensus, Malik Yasir was elected as Chairman, while Umar Farooq Khan was appointed as General Secretary, an announcement that was met with applause from attendees. The complete organizational structure of the body will be finalized in the next meeting.Participants also expressed their views on press freedom, reaffirming their unity, mutual trust, and commitment to uphold the principles of responsible journalism. The attendees congratulated Malik Yasir and Umar Farooq Khan on their respective appointments.
