Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan Sign Landmark Friendship Treaty to Boost Central Asian Cooperation

Agreement marks a new chapter in regional partnership, peace, and sustainable development.

ASHGABAT, July 2: Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan have strengthened their strategic partnership by signing the Treaty on Friendship, Good-Neighborliness and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the 21st Century, marking a significant step toward deeper regional integration.The agreement was signed during an official visit by Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev, who met with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in Ashgabat and conveyed greetings from Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation based on mutual respect, good-neighborliness, and strategic partnership.

The Kazakh foreign minister also briefed the Turkmen president on the implementation of agreements reached between the two countries at the highest level.The leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration through multilateral platforms and highlighted their shared commitment to promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development across Central Asia.In a related development, the foreign ministries of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan also signed a two-year Cooperation Program aimed at further enhancing bilateral ties across key sectors.
