Pakistan, Azerbaijan Strengthen Urban Development Partnership in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Apr 16 (APP): Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Sohail Ashraf, on Thursday met with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Khazar Farhadov to discuss ongoing collaboration and explore new avenues to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in urban development and beautification projects.

The meeting, held at CDA Headquarters, underscored the longstanding cultural and historical ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Ambassador Farhadov highlighted that Islamabad and Baku were declared sister cities in 2024, a move that has further strengthened cooperation between the two capitals.He noted that experts from Baku are actively working with the CDA on several beautification initiatives in Islamabad, including the renovation of Saidpur Village, Melody Food Street, and 7th Avenue.

Azerbaijani horticulture specialists are also contributing to the development of the CDA’s Gardenia Hub Model Nursery and have expressed readiness to extend further support.Chairman CDA Sohail Ashraf appreciated the valuable contributions of Azerbaijani experts, particularly in projects related to Saidpur Model Village, Melody Market, and the Gardenia Hub nursery.

Reaffirming his commitment to strengthening ties, Sohail Ashraf emphasized the importance of leveraging Azerbaijan’s expertise and exploring new areas of cooperation, including investment opportunities.Both sides also stressed the need to promote cultural exchanges, describing the engagement as a positive step towards deepening the partnership between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
