Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day Celebrated with National Spirit at Embassy in Bucharest

BUCHAREST, Aug 14, 2026: The Embassy of Pakistan in Bucharest celebrated Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with patriotic spirit and enthusiasm at the Chancery premises, attended by a large number of members of the Pakistani community and Embassy officials.The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the hoisting of the national flag by Charge d’Affaires (a.i.) Ms. Shazia Muneer and the playing of Pakistan’s National Anthem.The gathering paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Muslims of the subcontinent and the visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, whose determination led to the creation of Pakistan on August 14, 1947.

Messages from the President, Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan were also read out. The messages highlighted the significance of independence and reaffirmed the national resolve to build a peaceful, prosperous, democratic and progressive Pakistan.Addressing the gathering, Ms. Shazia Muneer extended her heartfelt congratulations to Pakistanis at home and abroad. She said Independence Day was not only an occasion to celebrate but also an opportunity to renew commitment to the principles of unity, faith, discipline, democracy, rule of law, tolerance and social justice.

She paid tribute to the sacrifices made during the Pakistan Movement and acknowledged the contributions of those who have served the country’s defence, development and prosperity. She also appreciated the resilience and determination of the Pakistani nation in overcoming challenges and moving towards a brighter future.Ms. Shazia Muneer highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding and friendly relations with Romania and expressed hope that bilateral ties would continue to grow in political, economic, cultural, educational and people-to-people fields.

She also appreciated the valuable role of the Pakistani community in Romania, describing it as an important bridge between the two countries and a positive contributor to strengthening people-to-people relations.The ceremony concluded with prayers for Pakistan’s progress, prosperity and security, as well as peace and stability in the region and further strengthening of Pakistan-Romania friendship.
